 Service Request TypeDescription
Broken/Dilapidated Fence Fences shall be in good condition and shall not deviate from the maintenance standard as follows:

• The fence shall not be out of vertical alignment more than twenty-five (25) degrees.

• Any and all broken, damaged, removed or missing parts of the fence shall be replaced within seven (7) days of the event causing noncompliance with the same material, size, shape and quality of the original fence.

• Fences shall not be externally braced in lieu of replacing or repairing posts, columns, or other structural members.

When a complaint is received, a code officer will inspect the property and if in violation, a notice will be sent to the property owner and/or tenant giving them seven days to bring the property into compliance. If the violation still remains after receipt of notice, citations may be issued.
Brush/Tree limbs Brush and tree limbs must be bundled no longer than four feet in length and should not exceed fifty (50) pounds. Bundles should be placed with your regular trash.

High Grass and Weeds (over 12 inches) Grass and/or weeds shall be maintained at a height not exceeding twelve (12) inches.

When a complaint is received, a code officer will inspect the property and if in violation, a notice will be sent to the property owner and/or tenant giving them seven days to bring the property into compliance. If the violation still remains after receipt of notice, citations may be issued.
Illegal Dumping It is unlawful for any person to deposit garbage, trash, rubbish, stagnant water or dead animals upon or along any drain, gutter, alley, sidewalk, street or vacant lot or upon any public or private premises located within the corporate limits of the City of Cedar Hill.

When a complaint is received, a code officer will inspect the property and if in violation, a notice will be sent to the property owner and/or tenant giving them seven days to bring the property into compliance. If the violation still remains after receipt of notice, citations may be issued.
Junk, abandoned or inoperable vehicles on private property. Inoperable means not capable of being used or operated due to mechanical incapability.

When a complaint is received, a code officer will inspect the property and if in violation, a notice will be sent to the property owner and/or tenant to prove the vehicle is operable or remove the vehicle from the property.
Other Code Enforcement Issues When a complaint is received, a code officer will inspect the property and if in violation, a notice will be sent to the property owner and/or tenant giving them seven days to bring the property into compliance. If the violation still remains after receipt of notice, citations may be issued.
Outside Storage Outside storage, outside of an enclosed structure, or under a carport, for a continuous period of in excess of seven days. Examples of prohibited storage include, but not limited to, building material, chemicals, appliances not intended for outdoor use, lawn maintenance equipment, and automotive parts.

Overhanging tree limbs Trees, shrubs or plants shall not create a hazard or an obstruction and shall be maintained within the following minimum clearances:

* Overhead clearance of streets and alleys - thirteen and one-half (13 1/2) feet vertical clearance.

* Overhead clearance of public sidewalks - eight (8) feet vertical clearance.

Oversized Parking It shall be unlawful for any person or owner to allow to park, stand, or store any truck-tractor, semi-trailer, trailer, bus, commercial dumpster, oversized commercial vehicle or any commercial motor vehicle with a rated capacity in excess of one (1) ton, according to the manufacturer's classification, in any residential district.

Parking on Unimproved Surfaces All recreational vehicles and motorized vehicles shall be parked on a concrete surface in the front or side yard.

Swimming Pool enclosure/gates A six foot fence or barrier with no opening larger than 4 by 4 inches in or under is allowed. Additionally, personal gates must be self closing and self latching.

Trash out too Early Trash may not be placed out prior to twelve (12) hours before the day of scheduled collection.

Trash/Debris on property Trash, rubbish, or unwholesome matter and/or stagnant water on property.
